Apparently there was some confusion between the two. Though the 25 Øre was made of Copper-Nickel and the 1 Krone was made of Aluminum-Bronze, the coins were of the same size and design. Also there is a higher percentage of copper in the 25 Øre and after a while it tends to turn a slightly yellowish colour, which in a quick transaction may be mistaken for the higher value or vise versa.
