Aargh! I missed out! I am a descendant of JQA and have been looking for one of these ancients with his pedigree for years. I'll get one eventually. Kudos for an exceptionally generous giveaway!
LOL, @Brian Bucklan , that was such a popular giveaway. I think it is worth a second run: I AM INTERESTED!
The coin is on its way to @Justin Lee and he's welcome to do another giveaway with it at some point. For me it was a real pleasure to see the interest it generated as I was hoping, but wasn't sure, it would.
Absolutely agree, that this coin will either be in my collection or given away in a giveaway whenever that time comes to an end -- I'll definitely pay your generosity forward. Thank you again! In fact, I'm thinking I might have a giveaway over Labor Day weekend (with a different coin of course) as a way of paying it forward more immediately.
I'm so excited to have received the coin this morning! Here it is in hand: It's got a lovely green patina, really showing it off on the reverse! Though, I do question the initial identification of Cilicia for it. In looking on ACSearch to try to find more details for a Cilicia coin, I ended up seeing what are better matches for Lokri Opuntii. This fits much better with the lambda visible in the left of the grapes on reverse (possibly too worn to determine if there is an O in the right field). Appears to be similar to 134.4 and part of Corpus group 20, 19a, and it sounds like "Corpus" is from Locri Opuntii corpus by Mrs. Diana Delbridge. https://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=860027
You may certainly be correct. When this coin was sold as part of a large lot in 1971 identification wasn't as easy as going on Wildwinds or any other website to do research on it. It was about tediously going through books to figure it out ... and I'm sure mistakes were inevitably made. Personally, I had never even heard of collecting ancient coins until the early to mid-90s.
