Yeah - but that coin nicely added Asia Minor, forcing it, so to speak, into the image. It is not just an issue of geography. It is an issue of territorial claim
Not quite - the coin shows Greece (keep in mind that most of those islands along the Asia Minor coast are Greek) and the "surrounding area", cut off by the coin's edge. Compare the coin map and this one for example: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/58/000_Greqia_harta.PNG The Greek government played a somewhat dirty game with the Alexander coin dated 1990, but the map on that 1963 coin looks OK to me. Eh - you have a soft heart. I was reading yesterday in the Turkish newspaper that they were accusing Greece of an imperial colonial invasion.
No, just saying. I was going to post some of my Greek coins, but most of them are already posted, so I don't have much to add.

Great post Siberian Man...nice coin collection...I know its an Ancient..but I LOVE the Owl tetradrachms from Greece.
The Athenian owl can also be found on current money. As long as Greece has the euro, we have this coin in our pockets. Basically a copy, but nice to come across such a piece ...
I still haven't got a chance to get the cool euro designs, like the owl one. I have most of their design types since the 50s. Just wish there was a dansco 20th century type set album available
