    Hallo, gentlemen.
I want to share my Greek coins with you, because (I suppose) it's rather exotic coins (in USA).
Greece got independence in 1832 with a big help of Russia, France and Great Britain. Otto von Wittelsbach (the son of Ludvig I von Bayern) was the first Greek king.
He wasn't very popular 'cos he was very passive monarch. When Russian Empire struggled against the Ottoman Empire, Otto didn't help Russians, and that is why he lost his popularity.
    In 1862 greeks overthrowed him.

But the second reign of Constantine I was not very long. When Greece lost the Second War against Turkey, Constantine I was depositioned. And his another son George become the sixth greek king as George II. But his first reign was very short: in 25 March 1924 he was depositioned too and Greece become a republic.

During the next 5 years political regime become a not-democratic. In 1941 Greece was occupied by Germany. George II escaped in Cairo (Egypt). When WW II was finished, George II returned in Greece. But he died soon (at 1 April 1947).

Paul I become the seventh greek king at 1 April 1947, He was the brother of George II and the son of Constantine I.
His reign was very dramatic, 'cos Greece was torturing from the Civil War. But he was a clever ruler and tried to calm his people and to finish the War.
