Another threat (at least if you live in countries with high VAT like Croatia and Hungary) is VAT, if I order a valuable coin from somewhere outside the EU and it is handed over to customs for taxation, then I have to pay 25% on the total price of the order (so not just the value of the coin itself, but also the "buyer's premium", shipping fee and perhaps also some other fee like a fee for using a credit card or PayPal) + 30 something or 40 something (depending on the shipping company) euros to Croatia Post/FedEx/DHL for handling the customs paperwork, I have already lost thousands of euros to this nonsense.

 

I have been lucky/ only got dinged over past 25 years on 2% of shipments.
