I found 7 wheat cents, a 1898 barber dime, a 1919 mercury dime, 2 pocket watches, a silver pin and a us button that I need help identifying. I don’t know much about buttons so please help. Good on you Noah! Did you find everything in one area?

Yes I found it all in one area. I had more wheat penny's but I have already mixed them in with the others I have found in the past.

That button looks like a Civil War button. I'm about 99% sure of that.

    Great find!! :)

    Thanks,

I'm sure you probably already know this but...if you have your detector set to reject tin and iron, dig deeper when you get hits for this. Many times there may be something bigger covering something smaller. A horseshoe may be hiding a coin under it for instance. Most old dumps were layered so don't always trust the detector. I go with my gut instincts. Surface dumps can be very misleading I have found. You can start by finding stuff from the 60's on top and the deeper you dig the older everything gets. Try dating the watch by bringing it to a jeweler. This may give you a better idea of the era you are in. I'm guessing you are somewhere near the WW 1 era at this point.

Nope. WW2 era. Definitely 20th century, at any rate. Cool find, though.

Great finds. You need to keep working that site if you can.

You’re doing better with your 200 than I’ve done with my 300.

I see no buttons in the three photos?

If the “button” is in the second photo, then that artifact is a WWI US collar disk (enlisted variety).

If there is a button, you can send me a photo. I have been collecting ancient, medieval, and military buttons for over twenty years, and I can likely ID it for you.

Hi, the collar disk is what I thought was a button. Thanks for the ID. Any time I get any more buttons that I don't know what they are......... I will forward them to you!
