I had a great time at the Niagara Falls coins show yesterday!! Not too many people there, good for me, bad for the dealers. With business being so slow, it was a good opportunity for me to pick some brains. Most dealers seemed to be more than willing to answer my questions and take coins out of the cases for me to look at. Much different from the last show I was at, it was so packed I never had a chance to look at anything or ask many questions. Spent a good 4 hours there, going from table to table learning about coins I am not familiar with, even spending some time learning about US currency. Learned a bit about hobo nickels, even witnessed one being carved.

This was the first show I have ever been to where they give you name tags to wear. I liked it. Every dealer called me by my first name which was very nice.

Didn't buy much. I think I did okay on they few items I did buy

1953 Jefferson nickel proof-25.00

1923 horse blanket-15.00

1945 philipinas 20 centavos -1.00 (found in junk bin!)

Now for the BEST PART: After the show I walked across the street to the casino. Put 20.00 in to a slot machine and hit a 170.00 jackpot right away!! For the first time in my life I took the money and walked away. Went back across the street to the show, they were closed. DANG! So I got some new coins and bills, and went home with more cash then I left with. Awesome day! Honestly, the new friends and knowledge I picked up was way more valuable than anything else.
