I had a gentleman who came into the coin shop the other day claiming to have found 100 silver dollars and 27 1877 indian head cents while metal detecting... for some reason I didn't believe it.

So this guy knocks on my door today.
Wanted to know if I wanted to buy some old paintings.

He said his Granny had died and left them to him.

I told him I was more interested in old coins.

I still don't know how he made it past my guard dogs.

I guess this stuff happens all the time these days with excess Louvre material and threads I keep stumbling into.
I did give him permission to bury them in my back yard.

I made a post on Treasurenet once about finding 30 rolls of silver dollars at my local bank. It was a farce, of course. I think this guy was just pulling your chain. Finding a solid roll of 1916D Mercuries is just too good to really be true. That would be like getting a Royal Flush in Poker 10 times in a row. - coincrazed

Soon I'll be able to put together the best collection ever. Just today, I received an email from a nice Nigerian gentleman who says I have a share of $10,000,000 waiting for me and all I have to do is send $5,000 to cover lawyer's fee. I can't wait!!!

I've had three Royal Flushes already...but it was on PokerStars.net for funzies. I ante raw16-D dimes into poker pots all the time. After all, it's just a dime.

Truthfully though, my 97 yo aunt called over the weekend and wants me to look over my late uncles' Morgan Collection. She is thinking of selling. I know he collected them for decades and would often complain how difficult it was to obtain one or another even 50 years ago. He would tell me (a very young collector at the time) of his aquisitions. Especially the CC ones. I think I really need to go with her and take a look ? Back then, everything was raw and he never submitted any for grading.

He might know the Nigerian General who contacted me ? I told them that an attorney handles my very substantial trust fund and I did not conduct any monetary affairs myself. But would be willing to donate my proceeds to the Charity of his choice.
