Hey everybody, since re-kickstarting this thread the other day, I have since found another story and a picture of the desk that held the above mentioned coin collection!

Next time you are in a thrift shop, make sure to check out the furniture and pull the drawers out all the way. Maybe stop when you see furniture on the side of the road destined for the landfill, could be a coin-mine... :thumb:

Rickie, I'm sure we (all that are left) will welcome him with open arms and assist him in his journey as well. (If I am still around) I would hope to assist him as much as you have helped me.

    Ay caramba!

Some of you may have heard / seen this lighthearted CNN story by Jeanne Moos that aired recently, but you know Granny likes to repeat herself sometimes as well as bring a little fortune to everyone... Groan as you may but don't pull the plug on dear old grand-mama:

Would you like cash with your burrito?

I think that it would probably be best to not bump this as much as you do, mostly because it might result in the thread getting locked. Something none of us want.

Why? It's become nothing more than a bunch of lighthearted stories about supposed fortunes, finds and some fictions(?) therein... followed by groans and disbelief in these reports. I see nothing since I began posting in this thread that warrant locking it or banning anyone. Please explain why you think otherwise because I don't understand yours and Ken's comments today.

I could care less, until it gets locked.
I enoyed this thread from the beginning. Although, I admit I haven't read the whole thing anymore.
I think what we're getting at is that there are quite a bit of the forum members who get tied up in knots if someone bumps threads continuosly.
It's fun to bump a thread every now and then. But your bumps regarding coins found, collections found, coins donated really isn't on topic with what this thread was originally about. (Not that anyone else has followed the thread topic either).
But all these news clips you share would be better posted in their own topics, rather than hijack this one.
I think people would probably be happier with an annual bump saying "remember this thread?" rather than a bunch of off topic posts.
I know there are many members who receive email notifications whenever someone posts in a topic they have posted in in the past. And I can't speak for them, but it would probably bug me a bit to keep receiving notifications about this thread, when all I really cared about was the initial post anyway.

Shawn, you can select to subscribe to a thread without an automatic email sent, then just check your User CP for the latest updates to threads which you subscribe to. It saves a lot of automatically generated emails from filling your inbox. Everyone has their own ways to subscribe or unsubscribe after joining. If you don't like the content or it's off topic per your tastes now you could elect not to comment at all or totally unsubscribe. I too get that way with other threads. Comes to a point where you get your fill and detach from a given thread/topic. I clear my subscriptions from time to time and move on.

Here in this thread, that had already gone awry long before I joined the discussion, it seems fairly harmless to post what I have and a far cry from hijacking it... The results of many of my posts seem to garner the anticipated, "die thread" groans and painful chuckles, which seems to be the point anymore, at least from my perspective, which differs from yours and each are perhaps unique. You can see that many members who post after my links and stories tend to enjoy a good groan at the litany of applicable/related stories of unlikely fortune.

I didn't see anything in the thread that was very serious after a certain point and it's lived on in a less than serious capacity ever since. If the thread doesn't belong in the US Coins Forum, then let a Mod put in it in GD, but suggesting it be locked because you don't like the content or direction of the thread is approaching selfish reproach.
