I got some neat new bills lately and I thought about sending some in to get graded. When is it worth having something graded? Who do you guys usually go through and what is the cost in general?
Any other useful tips and pointers on this?

The vast majority of the graded notes I own were purchased after the note was graded. I have used PMG, CGA, and Superior....both CGA and Superior are considered 2nd tier grading companies and annual membership fees are not necessary, but both PMG and PCGS require membership and grading fees. I'm a member of the ANA, so that gave me submission rights to PMG, which I used three times last year. Each submission I sent in 10 notes and the least valuable note was worth about $300. I submitted economy tier, and with shipping (both ways) it averaged $25 per note.

Give us an idea what you are considering submitting.

I thought about submitting some Korean bills of various dates (1930-1980) some of them are replacement notes. They aren't super valuable so I guess considering the cost it's probably not really worth it.
