Grading question

    I disagree. Much ado? This and every coin is a "teaching opportunity." IMO, the pictures are sufficient for anyone to view and make a determination (perhaps some closer to the actual TPGS and some not) of the effect the mark has on the coin's "straight" grade. The only thing that would "detail" this coin is the originality of its surface. In the OP, the coin looked less original than in subsequent images.

    I wish there was a professional numismatist or two presently working at a major grading service here to give an opinion as to "detail" or "straight" grade. Unfortunately for us, not one of the three I've asked wants anything to do with online forums. I do know that Jay monitors the NGC forums and a few long retired graders like Tom D. post on CU, but we are not so lucky over here.
