I bought this dime today, I'm curious about what grade it looks to be in. It looks to have some luster too. Any ideas?
Accidentally clicked enter when making my poll and posted I before I finished Luckily I added photos and finished my poll now, I now would grade it "Visible-69".
I forgot to add it, I tried to now but don't have room and can't change other possible choices. I guess you will need to post it if you think it is details. Also, There was light coming at a great angle from outside. Making every little piece of dust like like a casting bubble
This is a toughie for me thru pics, I voted 63 because the toning hides frost breaks, and rub. I don't see any wear but my opinion could change with it in-hand. Giving us your opinion might sway me down or up depending on your own evaluation of the high points. Also, why would this coin be an ms 60????? The toning? The mark under the chin?(looks like it could be a clash) The cheek on that coin looks pretty clean. Nice coin BTW and I would welcome this lovely lady to my collection any day
Who graded this coin XF? You should stand behind that grade with reasons. I posted Unc enough = commercial grade, then checked MS-63. IMO the coin actually looks like a TPGS (market acceptable) MS-64. Again my opinion; but no dealer would sell this for less than 63-64 money. Otherwise you could not get past the flock of other dealer's cleaning him out
I'm also curious as to how much you paid and where you acquired the coin. A show is the only place open on Sundays around here. And that's only twice a month and 100 miles apart
Not a show, the shop is open all week. The manager was going to the super bowl so someone else was filling in today.
I like the luster on it, which is muted by the toning and not seen in the photo. I will try to get better photos.
From your images xf details cleaned altered surfaces . When you pull up the coin you can see it's been cleaned. IMHO.
It's halftime! Let's talk about the grades in the poll. IMO, coin cannot be an XF because all the detail is present and lots of luster. If you picked AU-50 or AU-53: IMO the coin cannot be either because it is "clean" and attractive w/virtually no marks. Therefore, IMO AU-55 or AU-58 is a defendable grade using just a photo. Once a person (me) decides the coin is "Unc enough," that means any rub (which may not be present) is IMO insignificant for a TPGS to call the coin AU. So, the coin has the look and eye appeal of at the least IMO - MS-63. Anyone wish to explain how they arrived at their guess?
