camlov there's many coins to go and you can bring that down alot. Plus I'm always caught buy the end. It's all about learning anyway
Well said Duke... ... and look at 2snauz.... a couple good rounds and he's nearly back in the pack and full stride.... lots of changes remaining in this exercise...
I have learned a lot already... for example I have learned that I shouldn't collect high end coins. I have also learned that eye appeal means more to me then it does to the grading companies. I guess I could catch up but I think I like where I am. I think I can get it up to 4 by the time we are done.
What has really helped me, has been spending time at the library reading books on coins. Specifically anything I can find regarding grading. Normally, in the past, the only reason I would even set foot in a library would be to look at the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue because of the "Eye Appeal." (dumb). Anyway, because of this thread, I am learning a little about grading and finding other numismatic articles of interest at the library that only enhances my coin hobby enjoyment.
I am glad that this contest has helped to spark some interest in new areas of the hobby for you. Really the main reasons I am doing this is so that I can return the favor so to speak of the whole forum. Until I found this forum I was just a casual collector and had been for years. Now I can't seem to get enough new information on coins and collecting and wanted to help spark that same interest in New collectors and give some of the more seasoned collectors a chance to practice and possibly win something in return. Many of the people who post here don't get the credit they deserve for the information they share daily. Thanks again to everyone who is playing, and those who are not, that help us less informed become more informed.
