I was going through some of my collection and I saw a I believe a grade of 60T What does that mean? Also I see I have a Wl Half in a sealed plastic deal from one of the various mints that looks like it has 1mm wide by 3 mm long canyon like indent that looks like a planchet error . The coin is slightly worn and probably cleaned when they put it in the set. I do not know why people did not send these sets back when they found out they were not really nice to UNC coins. But anyways would it be a keeper, A seller or scrap? THANKS JON
If the 60T was an NGC graded coin it was simply a designation for toned. In early 2000, NGC starting using the T and W designations but they were fairly short-lived. Lehigh did a good write-up on them: http://www.cointalk.com/t208532/ As for the half, can't say much without seeing some pics.
Hello Jon, I believe the reply from Raider34 is spot-on. Regarding the walking liberty half in sealed plastic, I don't know of any US Mint product that was sealed in hard plastic during walking liberty coin era 1916-1945. It may be a post mint product from a private organization (not US Mint). Please post some photos when you can.
I was scratchin' my head for a second till I read Mike's post. Thanks Mike. I revisited that link a few weeks ago but still didn't make the connection here till I saw your post. Good to see ya posting again.........
I saw the WL Half yesterday while putting the coins in a safety deposit box And Had no Camera. Yes its one of those coins that like bradford, or what ever put together I believe. I think it may have been a war time set of 3 or 4 Cant remember LOL. Maybe 42-45 Or maybe it was a blue velvet case but The next time I visit my coins I will take a camera Thanks. And that T could make sense now I believe I saw it in a 1921 3 morgan set in the blue velvet case and it did seem like one had some toning to it. THANKS FOR THE INFO JON
