This certainly looks more consistent. My guess from taking lots of merc photo's that the streaks are toning and probably don't look as severe in person as in the photo. There is a 2Oclock hit on the rim, minor, and the hit on the reeds. I can't tell if the top straps are split but I'll figure they are based on the previous photograph. The date is still weird and the reeds are still soft, but this photo shows them more defined. I'd say it is a solid 63. Maybe that's unfar because I'm basing this partly on the strike, the but FSB gives it a nice premium anyway. Ruben
I thought the designation was "full split bands"... but that's why I'm here, to learn a little more everyday!
1941 MS62 no bands 1942 MS63 no bands 1943D MS64 FB 1944S MS64 no bands 1945D MS63 no bands Dimes can come really nice because they are small coins & don't normally get large nicks. I don't see any rub & light scratching that may come from rubbing around in a pocket with other change, cloth, & car keys. Therefore, I gave all of them all MS and not AU. I was really tempted to say AU on the 43D only because the surface looks dull in the photo. I'm assuming that the 43D dull surface is just the photo & not the coin. I didn't see any real flash that can come with nice dimes in 65 and up. Very best regards, collect89
If you were asking me , I was putting the 44 head with the 43-D reverse , so you're right I meant the '43-D has the FSB . rzage

You can zoom in on the image by selecting PAGE on your browser & then selecting ZOOM. Here are zoomed photos of the 1941 & 1942 bands. They are not completely split. Therefore, IMO no FB designation. Very best regards, collect89
Mercury & Full bands 1940-1945 PDS are some of the hardest date to get full band noted on a slab. the mint at that time had no quality control and the press ran 24/7. So any MS-60-67 is rare and a costly coin unless it is a SGS coin they are all MS-70 FB
i think the 41 will make full bands ,but not the 42 your right I had to download a zoom in and out on my computer Jazzcoins Joe:thumb:
