[QUOTE="MentalVirus, post: 1363171, member: 33177"]Thanks for the opinions! I believe 'rlm' is correct. These marks are common on this coin (which may be pronounced on the first coin partially because of the light) and from the die, not cleaning or 'pmd'. If you look from the first coin with these marks to the second, you can see some of the same exact marks! These coins are aluminum and were certainly crudely made by todays standards. Difficult to find in a high grade and a BU example books for $300.

The second coin is the one I would like to get graded but I have a couple issues with it and would like your input on what it is and what effect this would have on grading! I've attached another picture marked '1' and '2' for the areas I'm talking about. Area '1' has a tiny red(ish) spot. Is this likely a spot of tarnish? Could this/should this be removed before grading? What effect would it have on the grade, if any?

Area #2 are areas that appear like small abrasions to me? I feel like it's quite possible that this is something that happened when it was made. It's my understanding that old aluminum coins were notorious for surface issues.
