Oh Zane's still out there - someplace. He left Heritage and went on out on his own, started his own business as a dealer. I guess the experience he gained at PCGS and Heritage led him to that. I always ask around about him, but haven't seen or heard from him myself in some time. Who know's, he may show up here again one day.
I recently bought this coin raw and PCGS graded it MS 62. Although the strike is crisp, there are some hairlines below the buffalo's feet and there are some tiny spots on the obverse above the indian's braid. So they gave it a "market acceptable" with problems and the 62 grade is a problem coin grade. It is really nice until you get it under magnification and then you can see why they graded it that way. From what I can see of your coin, there are similar lines under the Buffs feet and if there is wear present that we can't see in the picture I don't think ANACS would miss it, but I will venture to say that MS 62 is the highest grade possible for that particular coin based on what I have seen lately studying the three legger for the last few months. Heritage just sold four 62's and three 63's at FUN and I would check those out and you will see what I'm talking about. When I got my grade back at 62 I was initially thrilled and quite pleased, thinking I really had a nice one. I brought this coin to FUN to sell and the room didn't like the 62 grade at all. I might as well have had a AU or ms 60 coin in my hand. In the end I didn't do too bad, not as good as expected, but the lessons learned where priceless. Matt
