Grade Opinion: 1938-S Quarter

    I wouldn't say the TPG's are "good" at grading them, but in my opinion, they're very consistent. After years w/ this series, they've certainly swayed my style of grading. Heavily toned / concealing bag marked coins usually overgrade. Lacking-luster O.S. bag mark free coins undergrade. Dippers usually get the middle ground. Based on my experience and the OP's photos, I'd wager heavily that this coin never grades higher than a 64 but we'll see the followup pics, hopefully soon!

    I spent some time with the camera tonight but all my photos feel over exposed and the luster is getting washed out. The originally posted pics are much better. I will keep working on them though and hopefully get some better photos tomorrow or shortly thereafter.
