Had this beauty in my collection for awhile and just got it back - it graded PCGS PF66 RB! These are old photos taken when it was raw, so I will have Todd take new photos in Long Beach. I just love the toning on this beauty! What do you think?

That is so cool, Charmy. Love it.

What do you think folks would have said if you posted those images and asked "will this coin grade cleanly"?

It's comforting to know that wonderful, colorful coins are still acceptable to PCGS. You know they looked at it hard before awarding a grade and their guarantee. Congrats!

    Agree

Most of the older, toned proof copper seems to grade. NICE COIN CHARMY!

If that coin simply appeared on eBay in raw state, everyone would say the photograph is doctored, it's an AT coin or possibly even fake. We all know you, but the next guy would run into the same thing if it wasn't graded.
This will be a featured coin in any of the top auction venues. IMHO

Thank you everyone, and thank you PennyGuy for the Mother's Day wishes too!

Salty, I bought this coin raw based on this photo without seeing it in hand so I don't agree that "everyone" would say it is doctored or AT'd or fake. Since I specialize in copper, I knew this proof was special and I had no problem pulling the trigger on it. When the coin is viewed without light, it is not quite as vibrant as the photo, but when placed under light, it is every bit as beautiful and colorful, if not more so, in hand.

And even though I don't really collect proofs, I just fell in love with this one so it will remain in my personal collection and will not be going up for auction.

Super cool coin! I'm sort of surprised there are still coins like that out there that still need certifying. I mostly blow over raw coins at shows thinking dealers and collectors alike have scoured any hopefuls already. Or when I see a coin raw that would probably grade and it is priced so high it just isn't worth the shot. It just goes to show that a little knowledge goes a long way. Congrats on your find! It's a beauty!
