I'm thinking, I'm thinking, my head hurts, lol. I see minimal risk on the circ, I have them nailed, it's my specialty, the XF and the AU's. It's those pesky red ones that are tricky. I got a cpl BB's that have me scratching my head, what were they thinking?
LOL Are you sure? I overpaid for one. Had the wrong lot # in my head. From now on, my wife is banished from distracting me when on Heritage Live !! It would have been cheaper to send her to the mall with $100, LMAO.
Wow, she is a smart woman! Must be on the Get-mor-4-malls.com forum! She will probably leave for the whole day for $200 or $100 and a Victoria Secret gift card.:smile Jim
Could it maybe be - what were you thinking ? But then, who did you send them to ? Let me guess ........
and the obvious reason for this is the fact that a single coin can be sent to a grading service multiple times and get multiple different grades, through no fault of the dealer's.
knowing where you were shopping, then even more congrats are in order.:hammer::computer: I can think of no better place to overpay for a coin. lol, sorry about that, I couldn't help myself
this is my honest opinion since i know you i would have no problems. if i did not know you and i could not vouch for your grading skills then the guarantee would encourage me to buy as long as you provided me my grading fees and all the monies i paid you. it would be a great marketing tool which you could use to offset grading costs but knowing what pcgs gives you why would you?
Jack, I know this is probably a stretch but what if you, personally, sent a coin out to be graded for a customer and it came back higher than you expected ? For example, you send out a '14D that in your opinion would grade as an MS60 and it comes back an MS63. I understand that you have great grading skills when it comes to Lincolns but would this not cause some kind of dilemma ? Do you congratulate the buyer on this good fortune and send it out ? $1500 difference. Would you be kicking yourself over your grade guarantee ? We're human and we make mistakes as do the TPG's. I'm pretty sure what you would do but would that change your outlook on a grade guarantee ? Again, this is a stretch, but as we all know there are only 2 things in life that are certain....................John
what you described happens t AJ all the time. i am going to open a store right next to his and make a nice living just buying coins from him and selling on the open market
Look Harvey is back and in the middle of the night too How have you been Harvey? Dont let green see you
In March, when I first opened, I sold a 1910-S to DJPX07 at CH-AU. It came back last week at PCGS MS-62RB. Congrats Dan !!!!
Too bad all Dealers aren't like you , I just hope all the scumbags out there don't try to take advantage , but you can always finetune your gaurentee as time goes on . To the best of luck . rzage
I have had the same barber for 16 years. He is on the corner of Baseline and McLintock. No habla english tho, you'll need to learn Spanish
I spoke to my ad rep at Coin World today. Starting in Jan, we will be creeping into an ad blitz. " Home of the grade gaurantee " will be a theme. There are some stumbling blocks, but I think it will work. It will also require a " bargain corner " on the site, I will have to do a little re-arranging and fine tuning, but the bargain/no guarantee coins will be few and kept to a minimum. Thats what Ebay is for. With some learning and some mistakes, give me a chance. I hope to set a trend. Seperate myself from the rest. I know what the collector is looking for when they are assembling a nice XF/AU set. Thats what I want to offer. Those fine tuned to the series and the grade will fully understand the variables of date, mintmark, strike, etc etc. It will be a site I would like to visit when I need something I cannot locate at shows or the bay. Keep in mind, I specialize in " collector grade book 1 " Lincolns, xf/au 09-33. I also service the 34-58 crowd best I can, and will keep the raw BU's to a minimum to protect myself. I do what I do, I will not pretend to do otherwise or be an all around expert. As a collector FIRST, I want to think like a consumer, not like a dealer who's mortgage depends on my income from coins. Done right, BOTH can happen....servicing the collector and paying my mortgage:smile
