Just a little ownership history behind the coin. The owner of the coin just traded in nearly his entire set of world silver coins that he has been collecting for over 60 years. The owner of the shop told me that he remembers selling this guy some of his coins in his set back during the 50s and 60s. The guy was in his mid 90s and wasn't collecting anymore. There were a few coins in his set that would grade UNC. I purchased one of those coins and posted it on here last week and if I knew how to link the post I would. Many of the coins were harshly cleaned - what a shame. Spock there was even a beautiful 1 Rupee from the late 1800s, but it had been cleaned. This gentleman also had coins dating well into the 1700's and some in the 1600's. There was even one from the 1500's but they are waiting for it to be authenticated by a TPG. Other than the early coins which I cannot afford, there are 4 British Trade Dollars and a British Silver Dollar (excuse the wrong terms) from the late 1800s. I posted a thread about these coins on here last week as well. Two of them were cleaned, 1 is BU and 1 is prob XF. The silver dollar is prob XF as well. The assistant offered them to me for $16 each and I didn't jump on it cause I didn't have the cash at the time. I may come to regret not getting them at the time, but I guess I will just have to refresh his memory. Anyway, based on the world coin book, the Cuban Peso in this condition was listing around $50. They sold it to me for $40. I traded an AU Panamanian Balboa and knocked $20 off. I had a credit of $10 with the store from some other coins I traded in and I paid $10 out of pocket. I didn't think that was a bad deal.
