Somewhere between "Neutral" and "Negative," I think. Original Red copper is what's prized, and I've seen plenty of Woodies I felt undergraded because they depart from the "preferred" look. Obviously, and I concede this, you won't find a woody better than RB. Exceptions apply for grade, though. For instance, 1909-S VDB is common in woody, and they don't suffer much.
Idk from my experience the TPGs dont like them. Here is one of mine, a 1916 graded by PCGS in MS64. I know it is hard to tell but in hand it should be atleast 65 in my opinion.
These two cents are from a transitional variety set I had fun building. I think the woody effect adds to the transition story.
