    I like that 1981 cent, Thad.

    Do those lines have relief, or is the surface smooth?

    Not sure I understand what "planchet sheet rollers" are. The copper comes in huge flat coils which are fed into the blanking machine, right?

    here are my new Woody. I feel this is definitely better in hand. Unfortunately the slab takes away some of the beauty the coin has.

    What grade did they give it? AU-63?

    The lines are smooth with the surface.

    When they make sheets of metal they are feed into huge rolling machines. These work the metal back and forth until the desired thickness is obtained. My theory is those rollers became contaminated and pressed impurities into the sheets.

    Made it to a coin show in Grapevine, TX this weekend. Not a major show, but I did manage to pick up a couple woodies. One is nice and the other a hole filler.

    there sign of a Wood Grain starting to show up around the date.
    Time will tell if this becomes a Woody.
