What a beautiful coin. Congratulations. Do you think the reverse is a reference to the Saecular games?
Lovely example of a classic coin, @panzerman! Everyone needs a heffalump! I don't need an excuse to show off my elephant! Philip I, AD 244-249. Roman AR Antoninianus, 3.73 g, 22.4 mm, 7 h. Rome, AD 247. Obv: IMP PHILIPPVS AVG, radiate and draped bust, right. Rev: AETERNITAS AVGG, elephant guided by mahout with goad and wand, walking left. Refs: RIC 58; Cohen 17; RCV 8921; Hunter 31.
Just got home/ waged war vs the leaves with my Stihl 800 Magnum leaf blower.....I won! I was wondering the same/ my feeling is that its not a Saecular Games commerative.
Yes, I now have 33 AR Denari/ Ants.....planning to add MANY more in future I also have many "modern" PROOF sets. The Silver coins are beautifull as long as they perfect "untoned" PF-70 I got this rare Quarter Dukat 1720 Braunschweig Mint same day. This Furstentum lasted only from 1714-33 Brauanschweig-Blankenburg Ludwig Rudolf 1714-33
I agree. The Saecular series was from Rome and had workshop ID indicated. The elephant was made both at Rome and in the East (Antioch?). and has no officina.
I'm glad you posted this. I thought my tablet had lost its "color" and had changed to black and white! But, nice coin @panzerman! Glad to see your next coin returned the "color" to my tablet, lol.
