I had an AS of Calligula and a Denarius of Tiberius that I had found metal detecting about 30 years ago. I sold them to a Roman coin dealer in San Antonio Tx about 28 years ago and really have regretted it all these years. So I finally got another one of each.

Nice recovery! Are the new acquisitions equal to the ones you "discovered"?

We all dispose of things which we later regret. (While I've never sold a coin, 26 yrs ago I sold my Corvette to fund something else...a regret I've tried to replace, but for me, not the same.)

These seem to be very nice specimens...I think you did well!

Amazing coin I know nothing about, but I'm still amazed! :D That's how I do it too, you have seller's remorse and you get another coin to 'fill that hole' so to speak. ;)

They will fill the void very well.
I will never look at them with the same excitement as the ones I was fortunate to dig out of the ground my self.

Nice coins. The Caligula is a real stunner.
Just curious, where were you metal detecting? I haven't heard of many Roman coins found in Texas, but you never know.

I was stationed in the Navy in Spain almost 5 years and went metal detecting every Sunday I could

I'm glad you were able to replace them ... and with such great examples too!

I sold this Domitian denarius six years ago and still regret it. As a unique variant, it will be almost impossible to replace.
