I love the orginals, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy one of the gold issues from the mint. I did buy the gold standing liberty quarter. It's not even my favorite design and I have a little buyer's remorse.

 

Yea but if you remember several thousand were held by the mint for months after the "sell out"... They then went on sale, 1 per household, months later. That is when I bought mine. Was worried theyd be sub-par returns or something, but mine looks flawless to my untrained eye under a 5x loupe.

 

I've held all three in my hand, in the OGP, and I've never been more certain I DID NOT want a coin so much in my entire life. I consider all three to be "imposters".

 

Nailed this with a last minute minimum bid on Great Collections. Got to say I like it — but not as much as a sharp Mercury proof.
