This is an issue of palladium coins, from 2006. Basically it is the same coin, but issued in four ways, showing the night sky and position of the stars for spring, summer, autumn and winter.
Those coins were same weight and fineness of older Russian rubles ie .900 fine silver. During 1920's RSFSR then USSR government had to issue coins in silver and gold to stabilise ruble - because inflation wiped out it's value several times over. The 1921 coins were not released until 1924 with the "gold ruble" which represented stabilisation. USSR did not go into "fiat" ie worthless currency until 1931 - by then Stalin was consolidating power, instituting five year plans, scorching southern Russia and Ukraine and starting pogroms against Kulakii.
Note the differences between that Swiss coin and the euro coin in post #7 by the way: The Swiss stars are oriented radially while the euro stars always have one point at the top. Also, the number of the euro stars is fixed (always twelve) while in Switzerland they represent the cantons. That is why the Swiss coins had 22 stars until 1982, and have had 23 since 1983 ...
