Queen Elizabeth I - The Virgin Queen I started really getting in to the Tudor history after watching the series called "The Tudors". If anyone hasn't watched this series, it's on Netflix and I highly recommend it. :thumb: Elizabeth is the daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn (who Henry had executed ). I think this is an old Franklin Mint piece, could be wrong. The edge is numbered 0770, and commemorates the defeat of the Spanish armada.
Ancient Ship Phoenicia, Ardos AR Stater c.450 BC I chose this coin because of the advanced age and the fact their is an unknown deity on the obverse. The reverse features an ancient vessel over water with Punic Letter above. The Phoenicians (Canaanites) are credited with the invention of long distance ocean going vessel, as they were delivering wood and precious metals from the Lebanon to Pharaonic Egypt.

Cassius Dio wrote: "The whole construction in the amphitheater was constructed in the form of a ship, and was so conceived that 400 beasts might be received into it, and at the same time be sent forth from it. Then, when it suddenly collapsed there issued out of it bears, lionesses, panthers, lions, ostriches, wild asses and bison, so that seven hundred beasts, both wild and domesticated, were seen running about at the same time and were slaughtered."
