Looks like clear glue or lacquer or something similar, rather than a strike through. I assume that is what you are referring to?

Looks like an 65-67 SMS cent with all the lint/threads it was struck through.

No, I'm comparing it to the SMS series which seemed to be plagued with struck throughs. I have dozens of sets where multiple coins have been struck through something.

    Just messing with you :wacky:

To me it also does looks like old adhesive with fibers stuck in it.

Having seen it in hand, I was also PMD. I’d be interested to see it get soaked in distilled water to see what happens.

I've already put in underwater and thumb cleaned it .
Fibers were come off and leaving worm trails ...

I have a feeling that acetone will completely remove it. ;)

    I agree 100% .
Then they'll be nothing but, worm trails left .

I also think the surface of the coin will get ruined, trying to clean it .

I agree. I think you should sell it on eBay for $250,000.00 as a very rare Mint error. :D:rolleyes:

I regret not having looked at this with a loupe. This is what makes me think PMD: [IMG]

Acetone shouldn’t remove existing impressions in the coin and a short bath shouldn’t hurt the coin itself.
