Got a new $1 Bill with a Serial of 00010000. Is this special in any way?

I figure every bill has 240 of the same serial number per series. 12 districts multiplied by roughly 20 blocks. multiply that by 8 for possibly combinations of 7 zeros and one 1. is about 1920 possible combinations.

Your estimate is a bit high.... There are 25 possible blocks per district (excluding O and Z, but including *) for a total of 300, but it's very unusual for a single series to actually use even half that many.

The all-time record is the 1995 $1 with 210 different blocks (199 regular and 11 star), but in recent years the typical $1 series have been coming in at around 100 blocks--there were 109 in Series 2009, 112 in Series 2006, 93 in Series 2003A.

The record for non-$1's is the 1996 $20 with 85 blocks, though the 2009A $100 may pass it soon; it's currently at 81 blocks and counting.

 

very good info, wasn't exactly sure how many blocks are usually made, just figured roughly 20 because I've seen up to X on recent bills, Y and Z on silver certs
