Interesting that gold went down 2% in one day and the day it happens is the day I got my new gold 1/10th! :) Story of my life, day late a dollar short! j/k These smaller gold coins are hard to pic with a cell phone. After I looked at it I went over to the US Mint website and I ran across a video they made about the new reverse. It's the US Mint Director David J. Ryder speaking until 4:14 then Janet Yelin speaks if you wish to hear her. Videos like this always makes me feel proud of our US Mint and they need all the help they can get! :D Anyways, just thought I would share this coin, as I do a lot of that here! :cigar:

    Nice congrats!

I bought a 1 oz version of the new design after seeing gold drop hard today.

It’ll probably take a while to receive it though since I paid by E-Check to get a better deal vs. credit card.

I read that gold & silver dropped today because of mixed economic data being reported “including this morning’s NFP report beating expectations and bond yields rising based on the expectation of FED tapering to commence.”

Don’t be concerned about the price you paid and it dropping. It goes up and down if gold drops a hundred or so, buy another one to average your cost. It only counts when you sell.

I only care about the price dropping because it means I can buy more with what I have. xD

Last week I couldn’t quite afford to buy an oz but I had enough to buy an oz today because it dropped quite a bit.

I like to stick with 1 oz and not smaller because the premiums start to really hurt. I would do 50 or 100 grams but that’s just too expensive for my taste. I have a collection that needs my money too. xD

I like the old reverse better, but I really like the old reverse design. The new design is OK, I guess.

like the type 2 design over the original, just looks more American...LOL
have a few type 2 1 oz silver coins on the way as well, probably going to
buy a type 2 1/10 oz in the nest couple days , the one thing I like about
them is they have the most designs and they dont break the bank...LOL

The ride is long, just stay the course and you will be fine, remember its
only a gain or loss when you go to sell :)

I have about 30 to date in my 1/10 Oz
collection I really like the .9999 stuff
just way more brilliant, but the .999
stiff ain’t to bad either, this is one
    of my favorites named “Auspicious”
    meaning good fortune.

I collect the 1/10th Ounce American Gold Proof Coin each year, however, The day the Type 1 went on sale, I had some other obligation that took priority, so I missed out. I will have to "pay the piper" on ebay or some other source. Over the years that I started collecting, I have purchased several one ounce, half ounce, and quarter ounce coins. I've only been collecting the 1/10th ounce gold coin for about 6 years. I'm glad that there were others on Coin Talk that give me a good thread to follow in my collections.

Though buying a full OZ of Gold will save you money I like the 1/10 oz size
just because of all the cool designs and the price is right...LOL

I remember listening to a bullion dealer from Australia. He was talking about how if you can’t afford a full 1 oz coin you should buy a smaller amount now rather than saving up until you have enough for the full oz.

He talked about how Gold spot price can move up quickly and it’s better to just get what you can when you can.

Granted he is a dealer so obviously he makes more with the 1/10 oz and thus has a reason to recommend them..

BUT he is Australian and they are known for their honesty. Not quite a Canadian level of honesty but pretty close. xD

Please crimp your staples or your coin will eventually be scratched. I speak from experience and damaged a very nice quarter eagle.

How will it damage it if they never move? How was yours damaged? Usually if I take a coin out I poke a hole in the window and haven’t had any problems so I’m curious what you mean.

I had multiple coins on my desk and inadvertently knocked three off. All were stapled in 2x2's and hit together on the carpeted floor. The Quarter Eagle Indian Head was scratched above his feather bonnet. My LCD spotted the scratch and loaned me his flat nosed pliers to crimp all of my staples on my 2Xs's.
