Yes, all of the American coins are just face-value pieces ("spenders" rather than "keepers"). The World coins here all of very low value.

So it's not a particularly valuable lot, but looks like a fun find.

Your Philippines centavo was struck under US authority, and originally said UNITED STATES OF AMERICA on the side with the eagle, but that got damaged, apparently from having been made into jewelry at some point. This type was made from 1937 to 1944, and the 1944-S was by far the most common date for these. As-is, I'm afraid this dateless, damaged example is only worth a nickel or so. But you could legitimately call it a WW2 relic, due to the 1940s Philippine connection.

Unless I overlooked something, these are all 5-10-cent "junkbox" kind of coins.

"Junk box" isn't really a negative term to most coin collectors- it just means this is common, cheaper material, is all. I and many other collectors enjoy treasure hunting junkbox stuff- good finds do turn up fairly often, if you search enough bags and boxes.

    Welcome! :)

    Keep on lookin'!

Thanks for bringing me back to reality ;)
I hardly think 1984 qualifies as "old", though my 7 year old certainly thinks so.

It's all relative. My daughter and I are shopping for a (cheap, used) car for her, since she's 16 and working. One Saturn sedan from around the Y2K era was equipped with a factory cassette player stereo, which was a totally alien concept to her (just as "Y2K" is).

She asked if the Saturn's stereo had an external auxiliary input jack so she could plug her phone into the stereo to play music that way.

    Umm... nope.

(Hey- I'll tell ya what, though, girl - I'll get you some nice Jethro Tull and Moody Blues cassettes to jam out with. Maybe a little Peter Gabriel. Howzat grab ya, hmm?)

My first car was a 2000 Saturn SL2 and it had the dual cassette/CD player. Lemme tell you, I was rolling in luxury :p

I bought Ladymarcovan an '01 Saturn (around Christmas '06) and it too had the dual CD and cassette. Was a great little car.

You can get cassette to auxiliary converters
It is a tape that goes in and has the aux cord on it. I would buy that

She could then listen, but not talk. Buy her a replacement unit that has the plugs and bluetooth ( most do now) and keep her safe ....as most use the phone no matter what they have to do.

Every Tull studio album (30+ of 'em!) is in my iPod. She's had to listen to most of 'em already, riding in my car. :hilarious:

I got rid of all my cassettes and switched to CD by around 1990. Then MP3 by '06 or so.
