I remember cleaning my pennies with Brasso when I was about 12 and those coins look like they are cleaned.
a great collection for a 12 year old. I am 14 an i have a collection of my own i collect silver, US coins, mainly graded morgan dollars and i have a total of 53 to this date. Some appeared to be cleaned in your collection, always check for cleaned coins when you buy they kill the value. Post closer pics of the wheaties, you might have a rare date!
Just for the record, 12yroldcollector never did PM me so the default no prize ruling is in effect. Stay tuned, you never know where I might pop another surprise give a way at a moments notice. Sorry 12yroldcollector. RickieB
When I first started collecting (about 18 months ago) someone gave my wife (to give to me) a bust half dollar, a 2 cent piece (au/unc), and an 2008 ASE in original box. When she asked him why he was giving that to me, his reply was: "The more people that get into collecting coins, the more my collection goes up in value." I don't know how sound that logic is, but I was truly grateful. Since then I have also sent coins to members of this forum. So I don't think your nuts Rickie.
While a pretty good hypothesis, it is not the reason I do it. For me it is called giving something back to all that I have been given over the years in Numismatics. You know.. trying to make a young kid happy about something instead of a new video game. RickieB

Hi Bruce. The "green stuff" is called "patina" it is a form of oxidation, that occurs with bronze and copper coins. Its a pretty common occurance. You see it a lot in ancient coins, old copper roofs and bronze statue's (Statue of Liberty).
Not bad at all! If you can get to a coin club in your area, like with an adult you will most likely score alot more as us oldtimers like to see the hobby getting passed down to YN's. Oh, and welcome to the forum!
