Gold Toning

I know I said I didn't like toning, but that 1883 cents is stunning. Really flawless. :hail:

Nickel commonly tones a color I affectionately call "pee yellow".

You also frequently see nickels tone light powdery blue.

These are the most common colors on nickels. Not sure why, but it is true in my experience.

 

And sometimes, both on the same coin.

1960's proof nickels tend to tone gold.

A regular war nickel, a violet toned proof, and a gold toned proof.

THis is a war nickel in my album. It has some hints of yellow/gold on it. Sorry for the bad pics.

 

This is about as close to gold as I'm gonna get...
