The Associated Press: Gold, silver coins to be legal currency in Utah

Utah is taking a step in the right direction. I don't know what it's going to do in practice though, the law doesn't really establish any exchange value between precious metals and dollars. Nobody's going to spend a $50 gold piece for face value. Or, if they do I want to set up shop there and get in on that action! It makes sense that market value would be used, but if that's the case what's the point? Are they going to enforce retail business to take gold and silver if they don't want to take it? I like it, but wonder how it can be implemented without violating the rights of individual business owners, and those businesses who want to take precious metals at market value in exchange for goods and services can already do so IMO.

Hmm... Tough to say how they going to implement it. Well, lets wait and watch what comes out of it.
