Do you guys like these? I just bought one for like $6 off ebay. I don't know if they are worth getting into or not..

I have a brother who makes jewelry and he buys these from Apmex monthly. I like them for a novelty item but not for long term investment. I never thought about buying an ounce and selling them individually on ebay as gold nuggets. Might be a money maker. What kind of "nugget" did you buy? gotta pic?
What they are showing is not true nugget Gold like found prospecting it is .99999 pure probably like slag from welding or melt from minting bars or something like that. Gold Nuggets found prospecting tend to have a higher value as they are true rareities, but they are also only 20K to 24K most of the time. The fact they are in the original state and have not been refined gives them added value. Before I bought any gold on Ebay I would want to know its weight in either grams or grains so i could check Coinflation.com to see what gold is selling for in those amounts. $6 is not much to spend to say you have a Gold Nugget, but you could pay way to much if you don't research the weight and price first.
Oh another thing the bigger the nugget the greater the premium, and I don't think flakes or leafs are of much value but that is JMHO
Yes sure, here it is. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...48593&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT#ht_2291wt_1165
I'm aware that these Apmex "nuggets" are man made. It seems to me that dealing with natural nuggets ....the potential for fraud and over paying on miniscule amounts of gold are detractors. I have enough to learn about gold coinage. Getting bogged down in tiny pebbles seems like a red herring. http://www.goldwhy.com/gold-questions/investing-in-gold-nuggets.html
BNB, if you don't already have one, go get yourself a decent scale that you can weigh your nuggets with -- you can use the scale for coins too, which you might run quickly back to after figuring out if you don't like these little bits. Some have beautiful natural shapes though. If you're not sure of how much a .09 gram nugget is size wise, prepare not to be shocked by how small these are... and don't loose it. :thumb:
Yeah it's going to be pretty small at .09 a gram, but hey it's still gold. Going by spot price today, and if it really is 20-22 karat it's worth about $2.60 in gold.
I think it's pretty neat. Most people have no idea what gold looks like in it's natural state, so it's nice to have an example or two to show. I have a few rocks with small gold matrix in it. I could have it crushed and refined, but a local friend who is a geologist said it would cost more to have that done than the gold recovered would be worth. I like it how it is. Guy~
I just hope this wasn't any kind of investment...cause if it was you csan't make your money back til gold hits over $2,000
Lol that was my face the first time I bought a half a gram gold nugget. Just to give you an idea of what it's going to look like. The picture below is of a 1 gram gold nugget next to a dime. So picture about 1/10th that is about a .09 gram nugget.
