Yeah, I read 40,000 as well so how do they say in one notice that they will sell 500 coins for 5 days? I think the mintage is a true mystery until the US Mint drains all marketing schemes they created. My guess on the total mintage is 50,000 but that's just a guess from what I've read so far. You never know when dealing with the US Mint as they have pulled dope fiend moves in the past.

It's a different link that says something about the 40,000. What you think, I made it up. Someone else read the same amount I did. I'd look for the link for you if I had the time but I don't. In fact your link says something about 37,000. Whatever the true mintage number is the US Mint should be clear about it, that's all I'm saying.

"When sales begin on July 24, 2014 at 12:00 Noon ET, the US Mint will have 37,000 units on hand. The sets will also be available at the ANA convention held early the following month."

They're minting 40,000 just to start so they have plenty on hand for the initial demand. There is no set mintage on them, for all we know the mintage could end up in 6 figures. They will be on sale for quite some time.

    1. Certainly will be. I won't be leaving any money on the table.
    2. Not sure.
    3. Nope. By that time, there will be no money to be made.

What is so confusing about that? The big money will be made at the show.

Let's see....if they are only doing 500 per day, that will certainly limit what the dealers can get. I wonder how much they are going to be coughing up to get their hands on as many as they can with a limit of 2 per person? It would be so cool if the big dealers hardly got any and most went to the general public, wouldn't it?

I plan to buy just one. I will most likely order the coin along with some other proof and uncirculated coins and ATB rolls in combination.

Given this is a 3/4-ounce gold coin with a design of that generates living history for many people, 125,000 could be sold.

Well you gotta know that a company like CoinVault has all their employees get in line along with their significant others, kids Grandma and the whole kitten caboodle. They probably send out word to all their employees to enlist anyone with a credit card with enough of a balance to buy a coin for them and they give the buyers of the coins each a hundred or so over their cost for doing them the tricky deed. What do you think, is that how theys do it? laughhard.gif

I doubt the dealers are going to get the numbers they got in the past due to the limitation of 500 per day and handing out numbers. You have to assume that everyone who gets a number is going to take their 2 allotted gold coins, that's only 250 people each day. I for one won't sell to the big dealers this year, but assuming half that number sell to dealers or are dealer's minions in the line, I don't think they will get as much as they have in the past.

2 per person and 500 was the original plan. The ANA is no longer telling people this because the mint says it is no longer accurate information.

Good, I hope the mintage is only 2500. It'll definitely be worth a gamble to buy one. I said it a long time ago and I'll say it again! The US Mint should have issued a small amount of 1/10th size gold Kennedy coins to really make this an exciting and memorable event! dblthumb2.gif Maybe Daniel Carr will see this as an opportunity! laughhard.gif
