They do this for a couple of reasons - 1 they are much cheaper, 2 - there is less possibility of damage from the flips; the non PVC flips can easily scratch the coins when they are put into or removed from the flips</p><p><br /></p><p>You mention cotton lined envelopes for storage, bad idea.
