I do not collect US gold coins however, it really does not look gold to me. What is the weight of it?
It is difficult to know from the images, but the color looks odd, unless that is just the lighting. I own a common 1932 AU 50 for my type set.
I'm 99% sure this thing is fake and not even made of gold. Color is off, strike is too weak, and casting bubbles.
Color aside - random photographs shouldn't be trusted for color conclusions - there are a number of red flags which prompt me to warn against the purchase of this coin. Harsh cleaning, in this case likely deliberate to distract from the numerous detail problems which make me leery of originality. Either way, even if it's real this isn't the coin to be spending money on.
Definitely pass , bad cleaning in the least . You can get a really nice looking 55-58 for maybe $100+ over melt . Why settle for an abused coin that could be fake too .
The more I look the more I think it may be a fake also . The stars look wrong in relation to the feathers and other devices that look like mush . This is only from comparing it to one other coin of your date , so don't take it as 100% fact . Still I'd pass .
Edited ALERT: Anyone care to give a reason why they think this coin is bad? It is GOLD; it is NOT cast.. 1. Color. correct. 2. Strike too weak. correct 3. 4. If you imply something is a contest , it should be in that forum and under the contest rules specified within the rules.
Correct. But what's funky about them ...and the lettering? Authenticators have an adjective to describe this look (not funky)
Star's appear off. Date is really bold compared to rim detail. All letters on rev are way to fat an look cast T in united , the top of it is heavier that the rest of it
Plenty of sharp eyes have legitimately questioned it's authenticity. Even if it was real, it simply looks like hell. You can do better. I would suggest a slabbed coin.
