I thought a dedicated Gold Certificate thread was in order especially after watching the videos on my Family Bills Thread and also seeing a recent auction. (1) It seems like pricing for bills has gone up or the price guides people are using are too high. I have a $10 PMG-45 Gold Certificate Fr #2400 and its either worth much more than I paid ($250) and thought (~$350) or others are pricing or estimating their prices too high. The guy in the video has the same serial block and said his was $225. Is he too high or am I too low for a bill that is PMG-45 vs. his PMG-20/PCGS 25 ? (2) What's with Star Notes and/or a particular serial block ? I'm surprised they seem to add so much value to a note. A VF-20 Star $10 GC Fr #2400 just got sold....it's 25 grades lower than my note and nowhere near as good eye appeal https://www.greatcollections.com/Co...te-Woods-Mellon-Legacy-Very-Fine-20#gallery-1 $400 hammer, $450 total. Dirtier paper and I don't think as nice as mine:
I've really been starting to like gold certificates a lot lately, after never paying much attention to them in the past. But alas, I can only collect so many things
