Possibly a totally newb question, but I have several 1 oz gold buffalo coins and absolutely hate that dumb mylar packaging they're in. Will it affect their value at all if they are removed from this original packaging and put into some other type of holder?

    Thanks.

Not it should not affect value at all, especially for the regular bullion version coin. The proof coin from the Mint would be better to leave in its original government packaging (OGP). Something you could consider to do with the one you wish to remove from the mylar cover, is to buy an empty buffalo box off eBay that was sold with the Proof coin. Many sellers list the packaging alone for a nominal charge once they have sent their coins in to be graded. It might spruce up the coin to your liking. Just make sure they are selling the capsule with the box so you can fit the coin in properly.

Reminds me of my comic book collection from when I was a kid. "Don't open Death of Superman because it will be worthless!!"

Steve Carell plays out a scene perfectly in '40 Year Old Virgin' when his girl friend want's to sell his toys, all pristine in their original boxes. Joyless toys.

Coin collectors can be every bit as much geek as can toy freaks. LOL!

Every bit? heck, I would say more! Does that mean I am more childish since I detest slabs since I want to play with my coins? Or does that mean my coins are more loved?

Anything more than "every bit" is greater than 100%, so that's some super lovin' you got for your coinage! :smile

Depends on whether or not you wear gloves.
