Saw these advertised at Apmex earlier in the week and decided to buy one (I love gold but can only afford it in small chunks at a time). It was on slightly on sale and came to the equivalent of $1389.77 per oz (compared to $1466 per oz. to buy 1/4 oz AGEs). Advertised as "AU", I think it could be slightly better! They ship random dates and I got a 1912. I assume this filled the same niche in French coinage as our half eagle ($5 gold). Shown with the 1/2 oz "Great White" from Australia. Great looking coin with a great design!! Both their lady liberty and their rooster look really cool!! It's interesting how their lady liberty has a hat that's a bit similar to the lady on the Morgan Silver Dollar. Must have been a sign of the times.
