Lee, the report about your trip breaks the number one rule of Vegas, what happens there stays there... ! Glad to hear you survived it and got back safely. One tip, if you have it or a plan that allows it available, try tethering a laptop to a smart phone for connection to the internet. Paying a hotel for wifi in your room is annoying. It should come with the cost of the room, or be available in the lobby where you can sit and access it freely. If tiny cafes can afford to get by offering free wifi, big hotel brands certainly should, too.
I run laptops and PCs off my phone all the time. Some hotels charge as much as $15 a day for internet. My DSL is really bad at home. The old lines fail every time it rains. It takes about 5 seconds to allow my PC to start sharing my phones connection. My son taught me this. He was so proud to show me how stupid I was. Vegas has really changed over the last 30 years. Hotels used to give out free rooms and food to keep you gambling there. You can still get that if you gamble enough. They are probably working on a way to start charging for just walking around.
