I know. I am guessing the seller was unsure and would rather include a junk certified coin than risk having a bidding cap of $2500 on a $10000 coin.
that was my first thought. I don't know enough about these coins to conclusively condemn them as fakes, or to conclusively condemn the seller as a fraud, but there's enough evidence there to let me make the decision to stay away.
I ran it past eBay as well- no violations as listed. As previously stated here I also cannot find anything wrong to call either a fake, and I am aware of several struck fakes of this variety, but none of the distinguishing marks match. I also am very skeptical of this seller and his sudden rise to selling expensive/important raw coins; I guess we will see after the listings end and the feedbacks come in...
I saw that TypeCoin; unfortunately that is exactly what I suspected... If you look at the other two coins "sold", it is the same buyer and he bid on 60% of this seller's listings and won both at the last second.
I love these coins. Very clean obverse, with the awesome eagle on the reverse. I have a medal which is part of a set which honors great coin designers. It weighs in at a whopping 7oz. .999 silver. Hope it's ok to post it here.
I'm going to say yes. Plus look at the rim in the inset. https://coinweek.com/counterfeits/s...836-gobrecht-dollar-1-page-attribution-guide/
