Ok folks, my PCGS submission has arrived at their facility. Just wanted to update everyone. Within the next few weeks we should know whether it's Mint funk or damaged junk.
All 10 coins checked in, that's a good start. Keeping the Franklin company is a 37D Buffalo 3-leg and my beautiful 1960 D/D Sm over large date memorial. I know the Buffalo is lightly cleaned, so I'm hoping Meatloaf is on my side and 2 out of 3 ain't bad.
I received a fitting response from PCGS tonight. Your order(bla bla)is short $0.00 in service fees and postage. Please send a check in this amount within 10 days to PCGS(bla bla address)to ensure that there is no delay in processing of your order. It appears that Franklin is not the only one who is drunk, well played.
3 out of 10 coins are completed and are being shipped back. Franklin however, isn't ready to come home yet. Pretty good luck so far, though...1865 $1 XF45, 1908 $2.50 Indian MS64, 1853O Gold $1 AU50. I will update again when Franklin gets his boarding pass.
The great Swami says: if it was ANYTHING other than a details grade, the OP would have proudly posted and boasted what the verdict was..... Nothing to see here people: move along
Well, he did say the results were in, about 10 more seconds and he could have shared said results..... Perhaps you'd like to wager against the great Swami then??
Whoops, sorry I left everyone hanging...tax season took hold. I'll throw a photo on in a little bit. Normally I get an email when someone responds. Since I was busy and I didn't receive a notification, I didn't jump back on...my bad.
So to recap, weight checked out and so did specific gravity. Could have gone either way, so not disappointed. Probably going to my local jeweler with it unless someone wants it as an educational or quirky discussion piece.
That's too bad....... ....but......... SMH, they claim to know it was intentionally deceptive, mimicking an error coin???? How do they know that?? What if some hillbilly was in the garage about to make a birth year ring out of it and took a dirt nap b4 he punched a hole in the center of it...........
Counterfeit is very different from post mint damage. If this is indeed a counterfeit, there should be alarm bells going off as the weight and SG checks out.
