Hi Everyone, I hope you’re all doing well! I’m not posting a lot, but, I’m here a lot, lurking and taking in all the eye candy. I got an eviction notice at the end of May and have been busy packing and looking for a new apartment ever since. Affordable housing in our area is really hard to find. For some reason, our little town demands fairly high rental rates. Thankfully and by some miracle, I managed to find an apartment that I can just barely afford. Lol. It’s so much better than having to move back in with my parents. So, I am incredibly relieved! Unfortunately, they don’t allow pets. So, I’ve rehomed my kitten and, for now, my cat and three reptiles are going to my parents. Something I am incredibly grateful for. Giving up my pets would be too much. A few weeks ago, one of our fine members, @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix, messaged me and asked me to adopt a few of his coins as he refocuses his collection. I was flabbergasted! I gratefully accepted and now want to share these treasures with you. First we have Crispus with a reverse that has quickly become one of my favourite on LRBs - the camp gate! Second we have a newcomer to my collection, Quintillus. @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix gave the the attributions for the first two coins, but, wanted me to id the third one. The hair gave him away, lol. I really like the bust style of Magentius. I think he disapproves of my picture taking. I think I got his bad side. :/ I also really like the Chi-Rho on the reverse. Words nor deeds can accurately describe my deep appreciation and admiration for the CT family. You guys are too much! @JGGonzalez has been a huge help during this time too. I feel at home here. I’m not the most intelligent person on the block, but, I’m accepted just as I am. I’m so happy that I discovered the awesomeness of ancient coins. Thank you so much for all you do for me and each other! Erin
Sorry to hear about your situation, not surprising with what's going on with the world nowadays. That was nice of Ocatarinetabellatchitchix, great coins, and congrats.
Sorry to hear your situation Erin but I am glad that you got a place to stay and hopefully things seem to be heading in the right direction. That was a great gift by @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix! All three of those are great coins but that Magentius is the coolest (to me) by far! I love his horrible hair style! The Victories and Chi-Rho on the reverse are really cool!
Erin, I'm sorry to hear about your situation . If you can look at it as a temporary situation it'll much easier to deal with . Praise to Ocat (Dominic) who seems to be a very caring person . My best wishes for a more positive future .
Glad you found a place!! Things are tough out there for many during these COVID times... I've felt it myself. "New beginnings" is right! Hopefully we're starting to turn a corner on this and things will start looking up. Nice coins and congrats on your new home!
Erin, my thoughts are with you. I know the pain of not being surrounded by your loved ones. I find they have more unconditional love than many Humans. I am also elated with @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix thoughtfulness. Awesome. Enjoy your new digs! Namaste, Brian
Congrats for finding a good apartment and I am very glad that your pets have a new home. I was in a similar position a few years ago, I had to move out and all the apartments I could afford did not allow pets. So i had to rehome my cat, fortunately I was allowed to visit him. Even if he seemed happier having access to a yard, about a year later he disappeared. Not hard to realize what happened in fact ... I will never forget the frustration, anger and sadness when I gave him over and how empty the house felt. As for the coins, congratulations and thumbs up also to @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix . Seeing this kind of gestures restores some hope in humanity. My Magnentius is not nearly as nice as yours but it was fun to attribute it - from my first lot I have ever bought, not having a clue who the emperor is.
Nice new additions to the collection Erin. While you were facing a tough situation, it sounds like it will work out in the end.
Hey Erin, Thanks for posting about your situation and @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix’s kind gift. I’m remiss in keeping in touch. PM coming. your parents are brave to house your reptiles. I’ve had “permission” from my wife, over the years, to have fish, turtles, a cat, dogs and a southwestern fence lizard. Snakes and birds? Uh-uh. Nope. I won’t even ask. Hang in there, Erin.Change is often a hassle and a disruption to our lives…but going through them can often yield unexpected blessings. Hope you look for them. Steve
I feel for you. We had a dog that was about a year old that a girl from our church had to find a home for him. He was with us a year when my wife gave him a pork bone. The bone got stuck in his stomach and the vet couldn't save him. My wife had pets almost her whole life, so we had to find a pet. My neighbor had a niece that he took in because her landlord did not allow dogs. Her dog had 7 puppies..6 male and 1 female. I had gone to see the mother and pups and found that one of the puppies wasn't getting any milk from her mom. I stole the puppy and brought her home. My wife had to feed her with an I dropper. My wife was a teacher and dropped our new puppy at Mama's house during school. I lived in a city so we had to take her for walks and she slept with us. She is now 13 and we know it is getting time that she leaves us. She has cataracts in both eyes and had small tumors in her legs. We lover her and will miss her.
Thanks so much, everyone. I'm about an hour outside Ottawa. One place I looked into was a bachelor's apartment and it was $900 plus heat and hydro. The apartment I'm moving into is half the size of this one and it's $915 all inclusive. The average in our area seems to be about $110-1200 for a one bedroom. I am incredibly fortunate to have found the apartment I did. It's going to be razor thin as I'm currently on a fixed income. But, I think I have everything worked out. Fingers crossed, anyway. lol It's going to be very difficult without my pets. I'm 37 and don't remember a time without a furry/scaly family member. They provide so much emotional support and company when I feel my worst. I'm thankful for my parents taking them back in. I'll be able to see them a few times a week. Enjoy every minute you have with her, Jim. I'm sorry she's near the end. I'm feeling the stress as we creep closer to the end of the month. I move on June 30. But, I'm hopeful that it will go smoothly. As always, ancient coins are a very welcome distraction! Thanks again for all the encouragement, support and generosity! You guys rock! Erin
@Ocatarinetabellatchitchix is really a nice person, and you certainly deserve all the attention and thoughtfullness you get from CT members Erin....or you wouldn't get it ! Take care Q PS : great coins BTW, and my preference goes to Magnentius
