To celebrate (cope) my trip to the dentist, I stopped at the local shop and found a sweet denarius of Geta. I also got my first quinarius. P SEPT GETA CAES PONT, bare headed bust right, draped and cuirassed, seen from behind:SECVRIT IMPERII, Securitas seated left, globe in right, left elbow on chair RIC 20 Cn. Lentulus Clodianus AR quinarius Laureate head of Jupiter right. Victory standing right, crowning trophy. stuff in ex.
two cool new coins RG, I hope that made the trip to the dentist a bit more bearable! nice details on the geta, hte bust is fantastic... and cool quinarius...I don't have one of the type.
Bugger! I took my son to the Dentist yesterday, but I forgot to stop at the shop, and no coins from the Dentist - not even a 'Mint'. Nice coins. I am envious. There aren't any coin shops near me. The nearest is 40klm away, in the big city. There is always eBay, I suppose.
Nice ... congrats on your fantastic sweet-sweet addition, randygeki (yummy) => 4 out of 5 dentists recommend Geta!!
I only have one Geta example ... man, maybe I should make an appointment with my dentist? Geta. As Caesar, AR Denarius AD 198-209 Struck under Septimius Severus, AD 199-204 Rome mint Diameter: 18 mm Weight: 3.36 grams Obverse: Bareheaded and draped bust right Reverse: Castor standing slightly left before horse, holding bridle and scepter Reference: RIC IV 6; RSC 12
Nice coins and brilliant idea! Will definitely be soothing myself with some coins the next time I have to visit a dentist.
I generally go get a boilermaker after a visit to the dentist, but perhaps a visit to the local coin shop wouldn't hurt either (in addition to, of course). Really nice Geta and I've been looking at some Cn. Lentulus Clodianus quinarii here of late.
TY all. Couldnt pass up Geta when I saw it. I was originally going to get a nice RR denarius. Good news is I get to go back to the dentist XD The quinarius shows decent detail in hand, and I fear cleaning would ruin what I can make out.
Hmm. I have a dental cleaning coming up and there is a tiny antique shop nearby which had some ancient coins last time I looked. It was at the very beginning of my ancient infection so I don't know if the coins were good or reasonable. Now I'm looking forward to that dentist visit .
In this case the reason for the visit (routine cleaning) is far less painful and much less of a hassle than finding parking and hiking up the hill to the dentist's office. As long as I have to go into town anyway, I may as well walk down to the antique shop and make the trip worthwhile .
Sorry, Randy Geki, but for the benefit of those of us are not 'teenage' smartphone addicts, in order that we can understand what you write, could you please explain your abbreviations TY, RR, XD, (or better still leave the abbreviations for your phone).
