That doesn't mean you can't start again.

BTW, I've smoked a few Cuban cigars in my day. No big deal.

That's okay. I don't smoke cigars anyway. I wonder how many '56 Chevys are still in Cuba?

You can go there, now, and find out. Bring me back a '57 and I'll give you half my coin collection for it.

I always knew I'd have that legendary sailor's liberty in Havana-once I was too old to enjoy it. :(

Anyone who claims Cuban cigars are no big deal has probably had a fake Cuban cigar. I've smoked fakes, and I've smoked real, from upscale Canadian cigar vendors. A true Cuban Cohiba will put you on your backside. I had to pull the car off the road and collect my wits, and at the time I was an experienced cigar man. The truly mid-range to full bodied Cuban is a seriously eye opening smoke. On the other hand, there are Cuban brands intended to be milder, such as Romeo y Julieta. They won't strike a cigar man as anything special.

Aside from travel and cigars, the coolest thing will be supplies of classic car ... PARTS! And coins, cool coins.

None. The only OEM parts on those cars are the bodies and frames, though I'm not too sure about the bodies and frames, either.

Us Brits have been taking holidays in Cuba for decades now. I'd better get there quick before it becomes flooded with Americans and all the prices go up.

So true, but some Dominicans do hold their own. Haven't smoked any for over a decade. But used to be REALLY into them. Romeo y Julieta Cubans, I had one in my lifetime, received as a gift and I never got to smoke it. Long story...

Aside from those, I was really into Acid cigars when they came on the scene and made a bit of change selling Fuente Fuente Opus X on ebay (yea, that long ago ~1998) when regional shortages happened. But alas, been out of the game when I quit smoking a while ago.

Looks to me like we need a cigar thread! While living in the UK, I found Cubans to be hit or miss. As for coins, I've never seen any, but my grandparents gave me a Cuban note they grabbed from the island before the embargo.

Applies to most people in the world, I think. ;)

Funny, I read an article about just that, roughly a week ago. From Der Spiegel and in German, but it deals with the "last minute panic" among Europeans when it comes to traveling to Cuba. The airline Condor for example increased the number of DE>CU flights from 12 to 14 per week. And while the 1 million mark, in terms of foreign visitors, is usually reached in May, it was March this year ...

I'd love to visit Cuba. Been to pretty much everywhere else in the Caribbean so why not. Almost went out there back when I was in college in the early 2000's. But the cost of first flying to Canada and then to Cuba proved to be a bit much for me as a full time student.

Worst problem visiting Cuba is they'll probably use flights out of Miami and there's not even time for a miserable bag of nuts. In all seriousness though, some Cuban cigar brands have been "given" to non-Cuban producers for the U.S. market. They're going to have to unwind that.
