The picture looks like this medal is silver plated white metal or pewter. and it may have had a loop when issued.

1794-A Prussia 1/3 Thaler. It is so worn I was not going to post but it's mine and why not it has history. thalerf.JPG thalerb.JPG

I just received the German silver Proof in the mail today. I can't read German but I love collecting German coins. I found several portraits of him but this coin.

MDM is a major coin dealer and distributor here; they also have agreements with various countries about collector coin issues. (World's biggest coin dealer, as they say.) I do not collect such medals, but may well be that they are less expensive on the secondary market ...

    Can't be a 1794 since Frederick died in 1786.

It hard to make out a date only the design to go by. That was how I came up with the wrong date.

That is a totally worn off date but the general type design would have been minted from 1764- 1786

Probably paid too much for but really liked the detail & the toning (even with the spots on the reverse)

I absolutley love the Eagle design on this coin. It has that majestic regal look to it. German coins have always had that "WOW" factor. I love them and will continue to collect them for years to come.
