German coins are my favorite world coins to collect. The craftsmanship on all the coins are bold and works of art. Here's a few to share. Steve
Cool German Cinema token and coins. Enjoy Steve There are two coins that I can't find much history information on and any input would much appreciated. 1. 1973 Copper looking: Alt Numberg 2. 1971 Silver: Bayeriesch Vereinsbank - "Tested positive for silver on test stone"
The two "Alt Nürnberg" pieces (medals, not coins) show part of the castle. The other side of the silver medal commemorates the 500th anniversary of Albrecht Dürer's birth (1471); the piece on the right shows the fountain and church at the Hauptmarkt. Apparently they were issued by the Bayerische Vereinsbank/Bayerische Staatsbank (which today is HypoVereinsbank and part of the UniCredit group). The two notgeld pieces, with the boar and the bear skeleton, are neat. The bear was found in one of the caves in the area, and can be visited at the city museum in Menden. The 2 kopek coin was issued by the German WW1 occupational regime in Eastern Europe. Christian
Here's more cool German coins. I love the German coins and I have a bunch of notgelds to list would that be okay for this forum? Steve
The notgeld piece from Lüdenscheid is, well, influenced by the time when it was issued. Above the CoA you see a hand holding a grenade ... Christian
